Another World Series bronze for Boudia and Finchum
NANJING, CHINA – David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.) added another bronze medal to their World Series hardware after finishing third in the men’s synchronized 10-meter competition in the final leg of the FINA Diving World Series on Saturday.
Boudia and Finchum scored 427.68 points to pick up their second bronze of the Series, a three-week event that features the top divers in the world. The top eight divers on individual Olympic events and the top six synchronized teams from the World Championships were invited to participate in the World Series.
The Chinese pair of Huo Liang and Lin Yue won their third World Series gold, this time posting 487.80 points. Cubans Erick Fornaris and Jose Guerra were second at 447.12.
Boudia and Finchum also won a bronze in Sheffield, England, during the first leg of the World Series. They were fourth at last week’s stop in Mexico City.
Individually, Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) had a strong showing on 3-meter, narrowly missing the finals by just 2.3 points. Dumais finished with 499.70 points to take third in his semifinal, but only two divers advance to the finals. He ended up fifth overall.
The World Series concludes Sunday with Nancilea Foster (Spring, Texas) looking to win another medal in the women’s 3-meter contest after taking bronze last week in Mexico City. Dumais and Mitch Richeson (Greenwood, Ind.) also will dive in Sunday’s men’s 3-meter synchro event.
